I actually prefer shorter poses to longer ones. Perhaps it is a more familiar way of working for me (wildlife rarely sits still for long). Short poses focus the mind: there is no time for fussy detail or too much thinking — one simply has to get stuck in, and often the result is better for it. This drawing is unfinished around the edges. Some artists are horrified by such things, as they can cause the energies of a picture to dribble away, but I think it works just fine in this case.
