I started attending life drawing classes with the idea that the activity might sharpen my observational skills and improve my drawing. If I'm honest, I was also strongly attracted by the idea of having somewhere warm and dry to go drawing in the depths of winter! I'm pleased to say life drawing has delivered on all counts. It is certainly a great drawing work-out, and has become rather addictive in its own right. It also provides a welcome bit of social art making — a nice counterbalance to usual solitary ways of a wildlife artist.

Here are a few examples of work done in life drawing class, plus a few other sketches of people. I expect to be doing more of this kind of thing: there is a world of opportunity and learning here and I find it complements and informs my wildlife work.
