Alkefjellet, Svalbard
Watercolour 59 x 84 cm sold
Alkefjellet is an amazing place: towering and rugged cliffs, home to some 60 000 Brunnich's guillemots. From a distance, it does not look extraordinary, but up close, it is mind-blowing. The guillemots buzz around the cliffs like some gigantic swarm of bees. Everywhere, there is life in frantic action. Truly one of the wildlife wonders of the world. This is a large painting by my standards, shown at the SWLA exhibition in 2018.
